Axel's take: 9.0/10

An excellent self-catering base with standout staff and the metro practically next door. a modern 4-star apartment hotel in North Sydney, scored for what it is.

Quest North Sydney is a modern 4-star apartment hotel that gets the practical things unusually right. We'd strongly consider it for work trips or longer stays: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable, well-equipped accommodation. Victoria Cross metro is close by, making this a useful sightseeing base even though you're staying north of the harbour rather than in the CBD.

Choose your room carefully: studios have kitchenettes and access to shared laundry, while one-bedroom apartments add full kitchens, separate living space and in-room washing facilities. There's a gym and sauna, but no hotel pool. Parking costs extra and needs planning, with limited onsite spaces and nearby alternatives. We'd skip it if a pool or a full-service hotel experience matters more than self-catering convenience.

  • Best for: North Sydney business travelers; Longer stays with self-catering; Sightseers happy to use the metro

  • Watch out for: Paid parking with limited onsite availability; Studios lack private laundry facilities; No hotel swimming pool

  • Location: Close to Victoria Cross metro, cafes and North Sydney offices; convenient rather than harbourfront.

  • Rooms: Studios offer kitchenettes; one-bedroom apartments add separate living areas, full kitchens and washer-dryers.

  • Cleanliness: Strong across sources, with repeated recent praise outweighing occasional reports of dust or missed details.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are one of the most consistent strengths in guest feedback.

  • Amenities: Gym, sauna, shared laundry and an onsite cafe; no swimming pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is charged separately; arrange a space ahead. Expedia also lists a per-stay deposit.
