Axel's take: 8.4/10

A comfortable airport stopover, with runway views but limited dining. a modern, limited-service 4-star near Sydney’s domestic airport terminals, scored for what it is.

Citadines Connect is a modern, limited-service 4-star that makes a strong pick for a night between flights. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, quiet rooms and helpful staff, while cleanliness scores are strong across booking sites. The penthouse reception and bar, with airport views, give it more personality than a standard overnight stop. We'd choose it for practical comfort rather than full-service luxury.

The compromises are mostly practical: entry-level rooms can feel compact, and the hotel's 24-hour grab-and-go food offering is better suited to a quick bite than a proper dinner. Allow roughly 15 minutes to walk from the domestic terminals; international departures require transport. The shuttle and parking cost extra. We'd skip it for a sightseeing-heavy Sydney stay or if extensive dining matters.

• Best for: overnight flight connections; early domestic departures; travelers who enjoy runway views

• Watch out for: compact entry-level rooms; limited on-site dining; paid shuttle and parking

• Location: Around a 15-minute walk from the domestic terminals; arrange transport for the international terminal.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and generally quiet rooms; smaller categories suit short stays best.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and frequent recent praise outweigh occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Penthouse bar, airport views, fitness area, free Wi-Fi and a 24-hour grab-and-go outlet.

• Fees and surprises: Airport shuttle and on-site parking carry extra charges; check the shuttle timetable before relying on it.
