Sun Valley is a historic upscale mountain resort, not one interchangeable hotel: the flagship Lodge and more modest, chalet-style Inn offer different experiences. We'd pick it for a full resort vacation rather than simply a bed near the slopes. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, landscaped grounds and heated pools; Tripadvisor feedback also supports the appeal of its dining and fitness facilities. Village restaurants, shopping and complimentary transportation make staying here convenient.
The important catch is confirming which building your reservation actually includes—recent guests have mistaken the Inn for the Lodge. Neither is ski-in/ski-out at Bald Mountain, so expect a bus ride. Lookout and Christmas lift replacement work has also restricted mountain access in 2026, including closing Lookout Lodge for summer. We'd skip it if immediate lift access or downtown Ketchum nightlife matters more than resort amenities.
