Axel's take: 7.3/10

Choose it for beachfront convenience, not polished resort service. a simple mid-range beachfront hotel beside St. Thomas airport, scored for what it is.

Emerald Beach Resort is a simple mid-range beachfront hotel on St. Thomas. We'd consider it a good pick for an easy beach stay or a night before flying home. Every room has a beachfront balcony or patio, and Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the sandy beach, water views and airport convenience. The pool and beachfront dining give you reasons to stay put.

The setting is stronger than the consistency. Recent reviews mix praise for clean rooms and friendly employees with repeated complaints about slow restaurant service, tired interiors and bathroom maintenance, including hot-water and drainage problems. Aircraft noise and visiting cruise passengers can also interrupt the beach atmosphere. We'd skip it if you want secluded surroundings, reliably attentive service or a freshly updated resort.

Best for: beach lovers with straightforward expectations; overnight stays before or after flights; travelers prioritizing ocean views
Watch out for: uneven dining service and room maintenance; aircraft noise near the airport; public beach can attract cruise visitors
Location: On Lindbergh Bay, St. Thomas; minutes from the airport, with transport needed for broader exploring.
Rooms: Beachfront balconies or patios are the draw; dated finishes and recurring bathroom issues temper the appeal.
Cleanliness: Many recent guests report clean rooms, but housekeeping and public-area cleanliness receive mixed feedback.
Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise; restaurant speed and problem handling are less dependable.
Amenities: Oceanfront pool, gym, beachfront dining, free Wi-Fi and separately operated water-sports rentals.
Fees and surprises: Parking and guest loungers are complimentary; pets and water-sports rentals cost extra, and the beach is public.
