Hotels in St. MaartenA relaxed 4-star, timeshare-style waterfront resort
8.3/10
A strong pool-and-views pick, but not a dependable beach-swimming base.
Oyster Bay is a relaxed 4-star, timeshare-style resort rather than a polished luxury retreat. We'd pick it for the oceanfront infinity pool, comfortable accommodations and slower-paced setting. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise housekeeping, friendly restaurant staff and water views; suites with kitchens make longer stays practical. On-site dining and a market help compensate for the somewhat isolated location.
The biggest caveat is Dawn Beach: multiple 2026 guests report heavy sargassum that sometimes prevents swimming, despite cleanup efforts. A rental car makes exploring other beaches much easier. Some rooms feel dated, and recent Tripadvisor and Trip.com reviews describe uneven reception service. Several buildings also lack elevators, so confirm access before booking. We'd skip it if easy beach swimming, walkable nightlife or consistently polished service tops your list.

Best for: Couples seeking a slower-paced stay; Families wanting kitchen-equipped suites; Island explorers with a rental car
Watch out for: Sargassum can prevent beach swimming; Some buildings lack elevators; Limited walkability beyond the resort
Location: Quiet waterfront setting near the French–Dutch border; a car helps for island exploration.
Rooms: Comfortable rooms and kitchen-equipped suites; some dated finishes and differing layouts.
Cleanliness: Strong overall housekeeping feedback, although individual lapses are reported.
Service: Restaurant and housekeeping teams earn frequent praise; reception is less consistent.
Amenities: Oceanfront infinity pool, dining, market, spa, fitness center and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; check tax and service-charge inclusions, and note the 10 a.m. checkout.
