Axel's take: 7.4/10
A practical beachfront base, but the location outshines the upkeep. a simple 3-star beachfront hotel in central Philipsburg, scored for what it is.
Horizon View is a simple 3-star beachfront hotel in central Philipsburg, best chosen for convenience rather than polish. Great Bay Beach, the boardwalk and Front Street shops are right outside. Recent Expedia and Agoda guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, helpful staff and easy beach access; sea-facing suites are the main draw. It's a good pick for a short, mostly out-and-about stay.
The trade-off is an older property with uneven upkeep. Reviews across sites mention dated fixtures and appliances, while elevator breakdowns recur in guest reports. Cleanliness feedback is mostly positive on Expedia but less consistent elsewhere, and some Tripadvisor guests flag poor sound insulation. We'd skip it if you need dependable step-free access, modern finishes or resort-style facilities. Confirm the elevator's operation and your exact room category before booking.
