#4 of 9 hotels in St. Augustine Beach by Axel's take. St. Augustine Beach is #4 of 6 places to stay in St. Augustine. The best hotels in St. Augustine Beach, ranked · Where to stay in St. Augustine

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong budget beach base, provided you don't expect beachfront polish. a no-frills 2-star motel near St. Augustine Beach, scored for what it is.

Americas Best Value Inn Ocean Inn is a no-frills 2-star motel that gets the important budget basics mostly right. It's a strong pick for travelers who want a clean room, friendly service and a pool rather than stylish surroundings. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the housekeeping and helpful staff; Booking.com's ratings broadly support that picture. Free parking, in-room microwaves and mini-fridges add practical value.

The name needs a little decoding: this isn't oceanfront, and the hotel's own website puts public beaches half a mile away. Rooms remain simple, with some guests finding them dated, and breakfast is a light continental spread rather than a substantial meal. Several recent guests also mention weak shower pressure. We'd skip it for a polished beach vacation or a walk-everywhere historic-district stay, but it's good bang for your buck as a straightforward beach-area base.

Best for: budget-conscious beachgoers; families wanting a pool; road-trippers with a car
Watch out for: not oceanfront; basic continental breakfast; some reports of weak shower pressure
Location: On A1A near restaurants and shops; public beaches are about half a mile away, and downtown requires a drive.
Rooms: Simple rooms with microwaves and mini-fridges; some dated finishes and shower-pressure complaints.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent reviews, with repeated praise for clean rooms and a well-kept pool.
Service: Friendly, accommodating front-desk staff are one of the clearest recurring positives.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, guest laundry and a complimentary light continental breakfast.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; Expedia lists pet fees and charges for cribs or extra beds—confirm requirements directly.
