SUNRISE Arabian Beach is a large five-star resort spread across six terraces above Sharks Bay. We'd put it high on the shortlist for an all-inclusive holiday: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the attentive staff, clean grounds and spacious rooms. Multiple pools, extensive dining choices and a coral reef reached by jetty give families and couples plenty of reasons to stay on site. Its strengths are hospitality and facilities rather than consistently polished luxury.

The main compromises are the terrain and uneven room condition.
