Axel's take: 6.8/10

Strong location and welcoming staff, but major renovations currently compromise the resort experience. A large, upscale 4-star golf and conference resort in North Scottsdale, scored for what it is.

The Westin Kierland is a sprawling 4-star golf and conference resort beside Kierland Commons, with shopping and restaurants within walking distance. Its strong overall guest ratings reflect real strengths: comfortable beds, attractive grounds and frequently praised staff. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe helpful service, and the golf course and Agave spa broaden its appeal beyond pool time.

Right now, though, we'd hesitate. As of October 20, 2026, Marriott still lists the lobby, The Rim and Scotch Library as closed. Its sister property's notice says the lazy river and waterslide remain unavailable through January 2027; the Adventure Pool was scheduled to reopen October 17, but confirm directly. Recent guests describe early construction noise, awkward detours and diminished gathering spaces. Those are substantial compromises for an upscale resort, not minor inconveniences. Resort and parking charges add another consideration. We'd skip it for a peaceful escape or water-park-focused family holiday until the work is finished.

• Best for: Shoppers wanting walkable restaurants; Golf and spa travelers; Conference guests comfortable with renovation disruption

• Watch out for: Major construction and temporary lobby closure; Lazy river and waterslide unavailable through January 2027; Resort fee and paid parking

• Location: Walkable to Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter shopping and dining.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds earn repeated praise; request a room away from active construction.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, although some recent guests report lapses.

• Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, including during construction-related problems.

• Amenities: Golf, Agave spa and fitness facilities; confirm pool availability and current dining options.

• Fees and surprises: Published resort fee plus separate parking charges; confirm any construction-period adjustments directly.
