Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong pick for suite space, friendly service and breakfast, rather than resort polish. A practical 3-star extended-stay hotel with full kitchens, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Sonesta is an apartment-style extended-stay hotel, not a Scottsdale resort, and it's a strong pick for families and longer visits. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and recent Expedia guests consistently praise spacious suites, cleanliness and helpful staff. Full kitchens and included hot breakfast make everyday stays easier, while the outdoor pool adds somewhere to unwind. We'd choose it for practical comfort and good value rather than design or pampering.

The compromises are mostly practical: Old Town is a short drive away, upper-floor rooms require stairs, and parking carries a nightly charge despite conflicting wording on Sonesta's website. Some recent Expedia guests mention dated furnishings, noisy air-conditioning or weak shower pressure, though the overall feedback remains strongly positive. We'd skip it for a walk-everywhere nightlife trip; request a ground-floor suite if stairs are a concern.

• Best for: Families wanting kitchen facilities; Longer stays and work trips; Travelers prioritizing space and value

• Watch out for: No elevator to upper-floor suites; Nightly parking charge; Some reports of noisy air-conditioning and weak showers

• Location: Restaurants nearby; convenient for exploring Scottsdale by car, but not in Old Town.

• Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped studios and two-bedroom suites; some guests find furnishings dated.

• Cleanliness: Strong ratings across major sites, reinforced by recent guest praise.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across review sites.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, outdoor pool, hot tub, gym and laundry; Expedia lists weekly housekeeping.

• Fees and surprises: Budget for parking and pet fees; Sonesta's dedicated parking policy lists a charge despite older free-parking wording elsewhere.
