Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong full-service resort, best enjoyed when you embrace its size and bustle. a sprawling 5-star golf-and-family resort in North Scottsdale, scored for what it is.

The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess is a sprawling 5-star resort that makes most sense when the resort itself is your destination. Six pools, waterslides, substantial spa facilities and varied restaurants give families and golfers plenty to do without leaving. Booking.com and Expedia guests strongly praise cleanliness, comfortable rooms and friendly staff; Tripadvisor adds enthusiastic reports of attentive service, particularly in Fairmont Gold and Privado accommodations. We'd pick it for an activity-filled escape rather than intimate luxury.

The trade-offs are scale and extras: rooms can mean long walks, resort and parking fees add up, and holiday festivities can undermine quiet. Some guests report room-assignment or service hiccups, though the overall picture remains strongly positive. A July 2026 guest reported men's spa construction; its current status is unconfirmed, so check before booking treatments. We'd skip it for a peaceful, walkable Old Town stay.

• Best for: families who want pool variety; golfers playing nearby TPC Scottsdale; travelers planning a resort-centered escape

• Watch out for: long walks across the property; holiday crowds and event noise; resort, parking and some spa-access charges

• Location: Beside TPC Scottsdale in North Scottsdale; better for resort time than exploring Old Town on foot.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable; confirm room category, connecting arrangements and distance from facilities.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia, supported by recent guest feedback.

• Service: Usually warm and attentive, with occasional complaints about room assignments and internal transportation.

• Amenities: Six outdoor pools, waterslides, restaurants and extensive spa facilities; some spa access costs extra.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee and paid parking; confirm men's spa availability following a July 2026 construction report.
