Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong El Golf choice for rooftop views and dining, with some luxury-level compromises. a design-led five-star hotel in Santiago’s upscale El Golf district, scored for what it is.

W Santiago is a design-led five-star in El Golf, and we’d choose it for the restaurant-rich neighborhood, rooftop Andes views and sociable atmosphere. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, spacious rooms and breakfast; cleanliness is another consistent strength. Karai’s Nikkei dining and the well-equipped partner gym give it appeal beyond the rooftop pool and Red2One bar.

The compromises are in the details: some rooms feel dark and show wear, while recent Tripadvisor guests describe occasional service delays and missed requests. Open bathroom layouts in some categories also make room choice important when sharing. It’s a strong pick for couples and business travelers who value dining and atmosphere; we’d skip it if you want traditional luxury with consistently polished service.

• Best for: couples who enjoy rooftop bars; business travelers staying in El Golf; travelers who prioritize restaurants

• Watch out for: dark interiors and some room wear; occasional service delays; limited bathroom privacy in some rooms

• Location: Restaurant-rich El Golf setting; Booking.com guests particularly praise its walkability and convenience.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, but dim lighting, wear and open bathroom layouts can detract.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall: Expedia’s cleanliness rating and recent guest reports are reassuring.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn frequent praise, though follow-through and front-desk staffing sometimes disappoint.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool, Red2One bar, Karai restaurant and access to the well-reviewed partner gym.

• Fees and surprises: Marriott lists parking and pet charges despite some booking listings advertising free parking; confirm your inclusions.
