Axel's take: 7.5/10

Good budget basics near the metro, but noise is the main compromise. a no-frills 3-star hotel in Santiago’s Barrio Brasil, scored for what it is.

Hotel Brasilia is a no-frills 3-star in Barrio Brasil, strongest as a practical, budget-minded base rather than somewhere to linger. Cumming metro is close, and breakfast and free parking add useful value. Booking.com’s overall feedback is solid; recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. It’s a good pick if those basics matter more than polished interiors.

The main catch is noise: guests on both Tripadvisor and Expedia mention downstairs dance classes, while others report corridor or neighboring noise. Communal areas also draw maintenance complaints, so don’t expect the finish suggested by some four-star listings. Opinions on the surrounding streets differ, with some guests uncomfortable after dark. We’d skip it for a quiet retreat or a polished full-service stay; request a higher-floor room if booking.

• Best for: budget-minded city explorers; travelers using the metro; drivers wanting included parking

• Watch out for: noise from downstairs dance classes; tired communal areas; mixed feedback on surrounding streets after dark

• Location: Barrio Brasil, a short walk from Cumming metro, with shops and restaurants nearby.

• Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned rooms; comfortable beds earn praise, but sound isolation is a weakness.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across Booking.com and recent guest accounts, with occasional linen complaints.

• Service: Helpful reception staff attract repeated praise, though some guests report uneven welcomes.

• Amenities: Breakfast, free parking and Wi-Fi cover the basics; Google lists no pool or gym.

• Fees and surprises: Confirm Chilean VAT exemption requirements before paying; extra beds carry a surcharge.
