#3 of 4 hotels in Barrio Brasil & Yungay by Axel's take. Barrio Brasil & Yungay is #6 of 7 places to stay in Santiago, Chile. The best hotels in Barrio Brasil & Yungay, ranked · Where to stay in Santiago, Chile

Axel's take: 6.8/10

Useful location and friendly staff, but cleanliness and privacy need more consistency. a basic budget hostel in Santiago’s Barrio Brasil, scored for what it is.

Cien Fuegos is a basic budget hostel in Barrio Brasil, not a conventional two-star hotel. It makes sense for travelers prioritizing location and self-catering over polish: there’s a communal kitchen, outdoor space and metro access within walking distance. Booking.com’s overall feedback is reasonably positive, and friendly reception staff earn praise across several sites.

The reservations are about consistency, not missing luxuries. Recent Hostelworld and Expedia guests describe uneven bathroom cleanliness, while multiple 2026 reviews mention bedroom doors without locks or bathrooms that do not lock. Other guests report clean, comfortable stays, so these problems are not universal—but they matter even at this level. Noise reports also vary. We’d consider it for an uncomplicated budget stop, but skip it if dependable privacy, spotless shared bathrooms or quiet nights are priorities.

  • Best for: budget travelers on short stays; travelers who want to self-cater

  • Watch out for: reported bedroom and bathroom lock issues; inconsistent shared-bathroom cleanliness; variable nighttime noise

  • Location: Barrio Brasil base with shops nearby and Los Héroes metro within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Dorms and private doubles; check bathroom arrangements and working locks before accepting a room.

  • Cleanliness: Mixed evidence: clean stays earn praise, but shared-bathroom complaints recur.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception is a recurring strength, though complaint handling receives some criticism.

  • Amenities: Communal kitchen, terrace, garden, free Wi-Fi and limited free parking; no elevator.

  • Fees and surprises: Confirm breakfast, applicable taxes and payment methods; booking listings disagree on card acceptance.
