Hotel Rumbao is a renovated 4-star waterfront hotel that makes exploring Old San Juan easy. Formerly the Sheraton, it joined Marriott’s Tribute Portfolio after its 2024 makeover. We’d pick it for sightseeing or a stay before a cruise from the Old San Juan piers: restaurants, shops and historic streets are walkable. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the spacious, attractive rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. The rooftop pool is a useful bonus after sightseeing.
The trade-offs are a nightly destination fee, paid parking and service that occasionally loses its polish. Some guests describe missed housekeeping, slow follow-through or noise, though recent feedback is predominantly positive.
