2.5-star hotel · 1507 Calle Loíza, Santurce
Hotels in San JuanA budget hostel with dorms and private rooms in lively Santurce
8.3/10
A strong beach-and-neighborhood base, provided you can handle shared-space noise.
Conturce is a budget hostel, not a conventional hotel, and it's a strong pick for exploring Santurce without resort frills. Its Calle Loíza location puts restaurants, groceries and the beach within easy walking distance. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff and generally clean accommodation. Air-conditioned dorms, private-room options and a rooftop terrace give it appeal beyond simply having somewhere inexpensive to sleep.
The trade-offs are mostly hostel basics: noise from roommates and communal areas, limited bathroom privacy, and a shared kitchen that several guests find under-equipped. Private rooms aren't automatically a quiet retreat, particularly near reception. Reception also keeps limited hours, so arrange late arrival beforehand. We'd choose it for independent, sociable travelers; skip it if you need dependable silence, step-free access or full hotel service.

Best for: Solo travelers on a budget; Beach and nightlife explorers; Travelers comfortable with shared spaces
Watch out for: Roommate and communal-area noise; Stairs-only access; Limited reception hours
Location: Walkable Calle Loíza setting near the beach, restaurants and groceries; not in Old San Juan.
Rooms: Air-conditioned dorms and private rooms; check bathroom arrangements and avoid reception-adjacent rooms if noise-sensitive.
Cleanliness: Generally praised across sites, although shared-kitchen upkeep draws some criticism.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; the official front-desk schedule is 10 a.m.–6:30 p.m.
Amenities: Rooftop terrace, shared kitchen and free Wi-Fi; kitchen equipment gets mixed feedback.
Fees and surprises: Official policies list a credit-card damage hold and bath-towel rental charges; access is stairs only.
