Axel's take: 7.7/10

Good for pool days and ocean views, less convincing for food and polish. a family-friendly beachfront all-inclusive with upscale ambitions, scored for what it is.

Krystal Grand Los Cabos is a family-friendly beachfront all-inclusive that works best as a relaxed pool holiday, rather than a luxury escape. We'd consider it for the ocean views, family facilities and adults-only pool area. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and clean rooms, while the broader ratings across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor point to a generally good, not exceptional, resort.

The compromises are food consistency and upkeep: Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe disappointing meals, worn furnishings and uneven housekeeping, alongside plenty of positive stays. Some rooms also pick up road or entertainment noise. Most importantly, the beach is better for walks than swimming because of rough surf and strong currents. We'd skip it if swimming in the sea, reliably excellent dining or immaculate room condition is central to your trip.

• Best for: families wanting pool-focused holidays; couples who prioritize ocean views; travelers comfortable with all-inclusive trade-offs

• Watch out for: rough surf limits ocean swimming; uneven food and room upkeep; noise in some room locations

• Location: Beachfront in Costa Azul, outside central San José del Cabo; better for resort days than town strolling.

• Rooms: Spacious options include ocean-view and swim-out suites; recurring reports of wear and noise warrant careful room selection.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive aggregate ratings, but Tripadvisor reports show housekeeping is not consistently reliable.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, especially around the pools; problem handling receives more mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Four pools, including children's and adults-only areas, plus kids' and teens' clubs, a gym and spa.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is listed as free; Altitude lounge access and premium benefits depend on the room category booked.
