Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong airport stopover, with clean rooms and parking that needs planning. a practical 3-star airport hotel with spacious rooms, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Place San Jose Airport is a practical 3-star hotel that gets the airport-stay basics right. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Sleeper sofas make it useful for families, while the included breakfast, free airport shuttle, outdoor pool and 24-hour gym add substance beyond a place to sleep. It's a strong pick for a flight stopover or short business trip.

The clearest catch is parking: it costs extra, and recent guests on both sites describe an overcrowded lot. Breakfast generally earns praise, but don't expect extensive dining choices beyond the lobby's evening menu. Confirm shuttle arrangements directly if your flight timing is tight. We'd choose somewhere more central for a sightseeing-led stay, and look elsewhere if easy parking is essential.

• Best for: travelers flying through SJC; families on short stays; airport-area business trips

• Watch out for: paid parking with reported space shortages; limited on-site dining; confirm shuttle arrangements before arrival

• Location: Convenient for SJC, with Karina Court light rail a short walk away; not a downtown base.

• Rooms: Spacious layouts with sleeper sofas; recent guests frequently praise comfortable beds.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

• Service: Mostly friendly, helpful staff, with strong recent feedback on reception.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free airport shuttle, outdoor pool, 24-hour gym and evening lobby dining.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; parking availability has drawn complaints on multiple sites.
