Axel's take: 6.3/10

Useful downtown access, but uneven rooms make this a budget compromise. a no-frills 2-star motel beside Market Square, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 2-star motel makes most sense for a short, budget-minded visit to Market Square, with the River Walk roughly 15 minutes away on foot. Free parking and pet-friendly policies add practical value. Recent Expedia and Hotels.com guests often praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds; it can deliver the basics without downtown-hotel extras.

The catch is consistency. Other recent guests report stained bedding, poorly cleaned bathrooms and maintenance problems, while several describe feeling uncomfortable in the surrounding streets. Noise also crops up. Those are meaningful drawbacks even for a budget motel, not simply missing luxuries. We'd consider it for location-first travelers with modest expectations, but skip it for a reliably quiet, well-kept stay. Confirm pool availability and any incidental deposit before booking.

• Best for: budget travelers visiting Market Square; drivers wanting free downtown parking; pet owners on short stays

• Watch out for: uneven housekeeping and maintenance; street and neighboring-room noise; surroundings some guests find uncomfortable

• Location: Very close to Market Square; walkable to the River Walk, but neighborhood comfort divides guests.

• Rooms: Basic, older rooms; bed comfort gets praise, while worn bathrooms and faulty air conditioning recur.

• Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but repeated recent complaints about bedding and bathrooms undermine reliability.

• Service: Helpful front-desk staff are a frequent positive, though problem handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, coin laundry and parking; a seasonal pool is listed, but confirm availability; no elevators.

• Fees and surprises: Pets stay free within restrictions; an incidental deposit may be required, so confirm terms.
