Axel's take: 7.0/10

A workable budget stop for arena trips, with uneven upkeep and limited extras. a no-frills 2-star roadside motel off I-35, scored for what it is.

This is a no-frills 2-star roadside motel, best treated as an inexpensive base for Frost Bank Center or Fort Sam Houston visits. We'd consider it for a short stay with a car, rather than a downtown sightseeing weekend. Expedia's overall guest verdict is good, with recent praise for clean rooms, helpful staff and effective air-conditioning. Free parking, Wi-Fi, microwaves and refrigerators cover the practical basics.

The catch is consistency: alongside satisfied guests, recent reviews describe worn fittings, missed cleaning and occasional pest sightings. Road noise can intrude, and smoking rooms are available, so select your room carefully. Don't count on the pool shown in older listings: recent guests report it is gone, and current amenities omit it. Breakfast information also conflicts; confirm directly rather than assuming it's included. We'd skip it for a pool-focused family stay or a walkable River Walk break.

• Best for: budget travelers with a car; short arena-event stays; Fort Sam Houston visitors

• Watch out for: uneven cleaning and room maintenance; highway noise and smoking-room options; no dependable pool or breakfast offering

• Location: Convenient I-35 access for arena and military-base visits; downtown sightseeing requires a drive.

• Rooms: Basic exterior-corridor rooms with microwaves and refrigerators; condition varies, and smoking rooms remain available.

• Cleanliness: Many guests praise clean rooms, but recent reports also flag missed cleaning, odors and occasional pests.

• Service: Friendly staff receive frequent praise, though flexibility and problem handling draw mixed feedback.

• Amenities: Free parking, Wi-Fi and coffee; recent guests report no pool, while breakfast availability needs confirmation.

• Fees and surprises: Pets incur a nightly fee with size and room restrictions; early check-in and rollaway beds can cost extra.
