Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong Rome base where helpful staff and cleanliness outweigh compact quarters. a simple 3-star sightseeing base in Rome’s Monti neighborhood, scored for what it is.

Hotel Centro Cavour is a simple 3-star in Monti that gets the important things right: cleanliness, welcoming service and a location that makes sightseeing easy. The Colosseum and Forum are a short walk away, with Cavour metro nearby. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team and well-kept rooms. It’s a strong pick for travelers who spend their days exploring rather than using hotel facilities.

The trade-off is space: smaller rooms and especially tight showers recur in guest feedback, and the lift is tiny. Breakfast satisfies many guests, but opinions on its quality vary. Room categories include balconies, so check exactly what you’re booking. We’d skip it if generous bathrooms, polished interiors or extensive amenities matter more than a convenient, friendly base.

• Best for: couples on sightseeing breaks; solo travelers; travelers prioritizing cleanliness and location

• Watch out for: compact rooms and tight showers; very small lift; mixed breakfast feedback

• Location: Walkable Monti setting near the Colosseum, Forum, restaurants and Cavour metro.

• Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned rooms with fridges; space varies, and some categories have balconies.

• Cleanliness: Consistently praised across sites, including recent reports of thorough daily housekeeping.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the clearest recurring strength.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, café/bar, free Wi-Fi and 24-hour reception; a sightseeing base rather than a full-service hotel.

• Fees and surprises: City tax is payable at the property; early check-in may cost extra, and breakfast inclusion should be checked.
