Axel's take: 7.8/10

Friendly service and transport convenience outweigh uneven rooms at this traditional Rome base. a traditional 4-star near Termini, with mid-range comforts rather than luxury, scored for what it is.

Best Western Hotel Artdeco is a traditional 4-star near Termini that works better as a practical sightseeing base than a luxury stay. We'd pick it for helpful staff, generally strong cleanliness and easy transport connections: Castro Pretorio metro is roughly five minutes away, with Termini around 10–15 minutes on foot. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcome, while breakfast usually earns positive mentions.

The main compromise is uneven room condition. Recent feedback across Expedia and Trip.com mentions older furnishings and compact rooms; bathroom fittings also attract criticism, although other guests report comfortable, well-kept accommodation. The Art Deco styling adds character, but don't assume four stars means contemporary polish throughout. Check breakfast inclusion, allow for city tax and paid parking, and skip it if spacious rooms or consistently modern finishes are priorities.

• Best for: sightseers using public transport; travelers arriving through Termini; guests who value helpful staff over modern design

• Watch out for: uneven room condition and dated furnishings; some compact rooms and awkward bathroom fittings; breakfast not necessarily included

• Location: Convenient for Termini and Castro Pretorio metro, with restaurants nearby rather than major monuments on the doorstep.

• Rooms: Art Deco furnishings, air conditioning and minibars; size and upkeep vary between rooms.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength overall, with occasional recent reports of dust in overlooked areas.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming reception staff are the clearest recurring highlight.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, a bar, luggage storage and 24-hour reception cover the practical basics.

• Fees and surprises: City tax applies; breakfast may cost extra, and the official site places affiliated parking nearby.
