7.1/10
River views and welcoming staff make this appealing, but upkeep remains uneven.
Riverview is an older, antique-filled 3-star riverfront hotel with more character than a standard roadside chain. We'd consider it for spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a river-view stay without luxury expectations. Recent Expedia guests frequently praise clean rooms and helpful staff, while HotelPlanner reviews reinforce the service praise. Included hot breakfast and free parking add practical value.
The catch is consistency. Other guests describe worn finishes, stained carpets and room odors; Tripadvisor and Engine also carry recent pest complaints, though these are not the dominant experience. Management acknowledged renovations in March 2026, but their current scope is unclear. September guests reported intermittent indoor-pool closures, so confirm access before booking. We'd skip it if spotless, freshly updated surroundings or dependable swimming facilities are priorities; bring a car for Rockford sightseeing.
