Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical Copacabana base, but tired rooms limit its four-star appeal. an older 4-star hotel a short walk from Copacabana Beach, scored for what it is.

Windsor Plaza Copacabana is an older 4-star hotel a short walk from the beach, better suited to exploring Rio than spending long days indoors. We'd consider it for the location, breakfast buffet and rooftop views. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally rate it positively, with helpful staff and clean rooms recurring strengths; the small rooftop pool, gym and sauna round out a useful city-hotel offering.

The main compromise is room quality. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews repeatedly describe dated furnishings, compact rooms and limited luggage space, while some mention noisy equipment or bathrooms needing attention. Housekeeping and reception also draw mixed reports alongside plenty of praise. Check whether breakfast is included; parking costs extra and depends on availability. We'd skip it if you want polished four-star interiors, reliable quiet or a substantial pool.

• Best for: sightseers who spend most days out; travelers prioritizing beach access; short stays without luxury expectations

• Watch out for: dated, sometimes compact rooms; equipment noise and uneven upkeep; small rooftop pool

• Location: A few minutes' walk from Copacabana Beach, with shops and restaurants nearby; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Functional rather than polished; dated decor and limited suitcase space recur in recent reviews.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall, but bathroom condition and missed housekeeping draw some repeated complaints.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, though reception efficiency and problem handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: Small rooftop pool and bar, gym, sauna, restaurant and Wi-Fi; breakfast is often praised.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion varies; parking is charged and subject to availability. Lobby works were reported in late 2025, with no current disruption confirmed.
