Axel's take: 7.3/10

Friendly staff and good breakfast, but renovations make room choice important. A budget-friendly 3-star a few blocks inland from Copacabana Beach, scored for what it is.

Majestic Rio Palace is a straightforward 3-star in Copacabana, strongest as a reasonably priced base rather than a hotel to linger in. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, breakfast and convenient location, roughly ten minutes from the beach and closer to the metro. The rooftop pool adds appeal, and recent reviews include plenty of clean, comfortable stays.

The catch is uneven room condition and renovation disruption. Older rooms still draw complaints about worn furnishings and noisy air-conditioning. Construction noise appears across booking sites, while an October 2026 Google report describes disruptive floor works; a completion date is unconfirmed. We'd consider it for sightseeing, but request a renovated room away from work and confirm the construction schedule. Skip it if dependable daytime quiet or consistently modern rooms matter most.

Best for: Budget-conscious couples; Sightseers using the metro; Travelers prioritizing breakfast and location
Watch out for: Renovation noise; completion date unconfirmed; Uneven room condition; Slow elevators
Location: Inland Copacabana, roughly ten minutes from the beach and six to eight minutes from Siqueira Campos metro.
Rooms: Room condition varies; request a renovated room and confirm the bed configuration.
Cleanliness: Generally positive ratings and recent praise, alongside some housekeeping lapses.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, especially at breakfast.
Amenities: Breakfast buffet, rooftop outdoor pool, sauna and gym; the official site also advertises a pool bar.
Fees and surprises: Limited parking costs extra; confirm renovation activity and distance from your assigned room before booking.
