#8 of 9 hotels in Ipanema & Leblon by Axel's take. Ipanema & Leblon is #4 of 6 places to stay in Rio de Janeiro. The best hotels in Ipanema & Leblon, ranked · Where to stay in Rio de Janeiro

Axel's take: 8.0/10

A strong Ipanema base if location matters more than modern rooms. a simple 3-star hotel two blocks from Ipanema Beach, scored for what it is.

Hotel Vermont is a simple 3-star hotel that makes a strong case through location rather than looks. You're two blocks from Ipanema Beach, with restaurants, shops and metro stations within walking distance. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast and helpful staff, and cleanliness earns broadly positive marks. It's a practical pick for travelers who will spend more time exploring Rio than inside the hotel.

The compromise is an aging building: dated furnishings and noisy air-conditioning recur in reviews, while some guests mention room noise and small bathrooms. Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed than Expedia's, so don't expect uniformly polished rooms or service. We'd choose it for a straightforward beach-and-city stay, but skip it if contemporary interiors or dependable quiet are priorities.

  • Best for: beachgoers who also want city access; solo travelers and couples; travelers prioritizing location over decor

  • Watch out for: dated rooms and furnishings; air-conditioning and room noise; some small bathrooms

  • Location: Two blocks from Ipanema Beach, with dining, shopping and metro access nearby.

  • Rooms: Air-conditioned rooms with minibars and safes; condition and noise vary.

  • Cleanliness: Broadly positive across booking sites, though Tripadvisor includes some housekeeping complaints.

  • Service: Helpful staff are a recurring strength, despite occasional reports of uneven reception service.

  • Amenities: Buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, a gym, bar and restaurant; guests also report beach-towel loans.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is off-site and charged separately; this is near the beach, not beachfront.
