Hotel Arpoador is a design-led 4-star boutique hotel whose biggest advantage is genuinely direct beach access: there’s no road between the hotel and the sand. It’s a strong pick for a beach-focused Rio stay, with seaside breakfasts, rooftop views and staff repeatedly praised on Booking.com, Expedia and Agoda. Beach chairs, umbrellas and loaner bikes make the location even easier to enjoy. Recent feedback is largely positive about cleanliness and comfort, too.

Choose the room category carefully. The hotel’s Small rooms measure just 16 square meters and face an internal courtyard; the beach setting does not guarantee an ocean view. The rooftop pool is better for cooling off than swimming lengths. You pay for the setting rather than generous space, so we’d skip it if roomy accommodation or a substantial pool matters most.
