Axel's take: 8.3/10

Comfortable rooms and standout staff, with an uphill trade-off for Old Québec. a modern 4-star city hotel in Saint-Roch, scored for what it is.

Hotel PUR is a modern 4-star in Saint-Roch, and we'd pick it for comfortable rooms, helpful staff and neighborhood restaurants rather than historic atmosphere. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise cleanliness and beds, while Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly single out the concierges. The heated indoor pool, sauna and gym make it a well-rounded base beyond sightseeing; upper-floor church or city views are worth considering.

The main compromise is location: expect roughly 20–30 minutes uphill to Old Québec, depending on your destination. Several recent guests feel uncomfortable around visible street homelessness, while others report no trouble. Parking and breakfast generally cost extra. Guests reported lobby renovation work in May–June 2026; its current status is unconfirmed, so check before booking. We'd skip it if doorstep access to the historic district matters most.

• Best for: travelers exploring Saint-Roch restaurants; families wanting an indoor pool; city breaks with helpful concierge support

• Watch out for: uphill walk to Old Québec; surrounding streets divide guest opinion; confirm status of reported lobby renovations

• Location: Restaurant-rich Saint-Roch, outside the walls; allow an uphill walk or transport to historic sights.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and large windows earn praise; higher floors offer appealing church or city views.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Booking.com and Expedia, despite occasional individual complaints.

• Service: Friendly staff and unusually helpful concierges are the clearest recurring strengths.

• Amenities: Heated indoor pool, sauna, 24-hour gym and Table restaurant; dinner operates on selected evenings.

• Fees and surprises: Paid parking, breakfast usually extra and dog fees; May–June 2026 lobby renovation reports lack confirmed completion.
