#2 of 9 hotels in Sainte-Foy & Laurier by Axel's take. Sainte-Foy & Laurier is #6 of 6 places to stay in Quebec City. The best hotels in Sainte-Foy & Laurier, ranked · Where to stay in Quebec City

Axel's take: 8.4/10

Excellent beds and helpful staff, but nearby tramway construction complicates an otherwise dependable stay. a modern mid-range Germain-group hotel in Sainte-Foy, scored for what it is.

Alt Québec is a modern mid-range Germain-group hotel in Sainte-Foy, better suited to business and shopping trips than doorstep sightseeing in Old Québec. We'd pick it for the consistently praised beds, cleanliness and welcoming staff: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests reinforce that picture, while Booking.com also rates comfort highly. Included parking and a 24-hour gym strengthen its practical appeal.

The biggest drawback is nearby tramway construction. Guests in 2026 report difficult approaches, detours and early-morning noise; management acknowledges the disruption, and the hotel publishes an arrival route. Ask for a room facing away from the works and current parking instructions. Some standard rooms feel compact. Bistango serves lunch and dinner on selected days, not breakfast. We'd skip it for a quiet lie-in or a first visit focused on walking around Old Québec.

  • Best for: business travelers in Sainte-Foy; shopping weekends; drivers exploring the wider region

  • Watch out for: tramway construction noise and access detours; compact standard rooms and tight parking spaces; no restaurant breakfast; Bistango closed Sundays and Mondays

  • Location: Near Laurier Québec shopping in Sainte-Foy; Old Québec sightseeing requires transport.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds are a consistent strength; some standard rooms feel small.

  • Cleanliness: Strong cleanliness feedback across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor.

  • Service: Guests repeatedly praise welcoming staff and responsive problem handling.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour gym and Bistango restaurant with limited operating days.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is included; EV charging costs extra, breakfast is not included, and nearby works complicate access.
