Axel's take: 7.6/10

Good beachfront value, provided food and room polish aren’t your priorities. a value-focused 4-star beachfront all-inclusive, scored for what it is.

Vista Sol is a value-focused 4-star all-inclusive on Bávaro Beach, better for an easygoing beach holiday than a luxury escape. We'd consider it for the tropical grounds, three outdoor pools and busy activity program, with a kids’ club giving families another reason to choose it. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the beachfront setting and friendly staff, particularly the entertainment team. Overall guest ratings point to a good, rather than outstanding, resort.

The compromises are food and consistency. Recent reviews repeatedly describe underwhelming meals, uneven room maintenance and some aging pool facilities, although renovated rooms receive better feedback. Book specialty restaurants early, and check which room category you're getting. We'd skip it if dining is central to your holiday or you expect polished rooms and uniformly attentive service.

• Best for: value-minded beach vacationers; families who enjoy organized activities; couples comfortable with a lively resort

• Watch out for: uneven food quality; room condition varies by category; specialty restaurants require advance planning

• Location: Direct beach access near El Cortecito, with shops and restaurants nearby.

• Rooms: Renovated options earn praise, but recent guests still report dated rooms and maintenance shortcomings.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive overall; some guests report dampness or musty rooms.

• Service: Many staff receive warm praise, but reception and restaurant experiences are less consistent.

• Amenities: Three outdoor pools, children’s pools, kids’ club, gym, spa and daily entertainment.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists safe and late-checkout charges; the hotel charges extra for floodlit tennis.
