Beautiful rooms and pools, but service and beach conditions temper the luxury promise. a modern five-star beachfront resort beside Punta Espada golf course, scored for what it is.

The St. Regis Cap Cana is a five-star resort whose rooms and pools make a stronger impression than its service consistency. Opened in 2025, it earns repeated praise on Expedia and Tripadvisor for spacious accommodation, comfortable beds and immaculate surroundings. We'd consider it for a relaxed, pool-focused escape, especially with Punta Espada golf nearby; the spa and swim-out rooms add appeal.

The trade-offs matter at this level. Alongside enthusiastic staff praise, guests across Tripadvisor, Expedia and Reddit describe slow requests and uneven butler service. The small beach has rocky entry points, and sargassum can seriously restrict swimming: an August 2026 Expedia guest reported it was effectively unusable during their stay. Dining draws both praise and complaints about value. We'd skip it if easy ocean swimming or reliably seamless luxury service is the main reason for your trip.

• Best for: couples prioritizing pools and spa time; golfers playing Punta Espada; families wanting spacious swim-out accommodation

• Watch out for: rocky beach and variable sargassum conditions; inconsistent butler and restaurant service; costly on-property dining

• Location: Secluded Cap Cana setting beside Punta Espada; transport is needed for outings.

• Rooms: Spacious, modern rooms with comfortable beds; swim-out options are a highlight.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength overall, with repeated praise for spotless rooms and grounds.

• Service: Many warm staff endorsements, but recurring delays and uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Multiple pools, spa, fitness center and children's club; golf is adjacent.

• Fees and surprises: Cashless property; parking is complimentary, while pets and private cabanas carry charges.
