Axel's take: 6.5/10

Convenient for beach days, but unreliable bathrooms and upkeep limit the appeal. a basic budget guesthouse near Los Corales Beach, scored for what it is.

Las Rosas is a basic budget guesthouse, not a resort, and its strongest asset is the walkable Los Corales location. Beaches, restaurants and shops are close, while a shared kitchen helps keep meals affordable. Booking.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and location; its overall rating sits around 7/10. We'd consider it for a short, inexpensive stay with modest expectations.

The compromises go beyond plain furnishings. Recent guests repeatedly describe salty tap water, unreliable showers or missing hot water, alongside uneven bathroom and kitchen cleanliness. Nighttime noise also crops up. The advertised outdoor pool gets conflicting reports: some guests enjoy it, while others describe unusable green water, so confirm its condition before booking. Room categories include shared bathrooms. We'd skip it if dependable plumbing, quiet nights or consistently clean facilities are priorities.

• Best for: budget travelers prioritizing beach access; short stays with modest expectations; travelers using a shared kitchen

• Watch out for: salty water and unreliable showers; uneven cleanliness and nighttime noise; pool condition and bathroom type need checking

• Location: Walkable Los Corales setting near the beach, restaurants, shops and groceries.

• Rooms: Basic accommodation with varying layouts; some categories have shared bathrooms, and shower problems recur.

• Cleanliness: Mixed: the overall cleanliness rating is reasonable, but recent guests flag bathrooms, odors and the shared kitchen.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength, though reception coverage receives occasional criticism.

• Amenities: Shared kitchen, free Wi-Fi and parking; an outdoor pool is advertised, but guest reports of its condition conflict.

• Fees and surprises: Booking.com lists a refundable cash damage deposit; Expedia lists a late-check-in fee. Confirm payment methods before arrival.
