#4 of 9 hotels in Uvero Alto by Axel's take. Uvero Alto is #7 of 7 places to stay in Punta Cana. The best hotels in Uvero Alto, ranked · Where to stay in Punta Cana

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong couples’ retreat, with excellent staff but restaurant renovations to check. A five-star, adults-only, all-suite beachfront all-inclusive, scored for what it is.

Excellence El Carmen, now branded Excellence Carmen Punta Cana, is a five-star adults-only all-inclusive that makes a strong case for staying put. Spacious suites, extensive pools and varied dining suit couples wanting an easy, self-contained holiday. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, clean rooms and well-kept grounds; service is the clearest reason to choose it.

The caveats matter at this level. Food earns plenty of praise, but Tripadvisor and Reddit accounts suggest it is not consistently exceptional. Seaweed can undermine beach days. September 2026 guests reported restaurant renovations beside the main pool and Flavor Market unavailable; an October review still mentions renovation noise. Confirm the current works and dining arrangements before booking. We'd shortlist it for pool-focused relaxation, but skip it if uninterrupted quiet or exceptional dining is essential.

  • Best for: Couples seeking a self-contained escape; Honeymooners who prioritize pools and suites; Adults wanting attentive resort service

  • Watch out for: Restaurant renovations and construction noise; Seaweed affecting beach enjoyment; Food quality varies by restaurant and guest expectations

  • Location: Beachfront in Uvero Alto; better for resort time than exploring Punta Cana independently.

  • Rooms: Spacious suites, with swim-up and rooftop-pool categories available.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff receive broad praise, though some guests report uneven delivery.

  • Amenities: Extensive pools, multiple restaurants, Miilé Spa and daily entertainment; some areas require Excellence Club access.

  • Fees and surprises: Excellence Club benefits require the appropriate category; airport transfers are not universally included. Confirm restaurant works before arrival.
