Axel's take: 7.9/10

A good Old Town base if you can handle stairs and summer heat. a simple 3-star guesthouse in Prague’s Old Town, scored for what it is.

Pension Corto, also marketed as Residence Corto Old Town, is a simple 3-star guesthouse whose main selling point is its walk-everywhere location. It’s a good pick for sightseeing without paying for full-service hotel comforts. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests praise helpful staff, clean rooms and easy access to the sights. Private bathrooms, tea-and-coffee facilities and the downstairs Italian restaurant cover the practical basics.

The compromises are worth taking seriously: there’s no elevator, and recent guests confirm fans rather than air-conditioning. Room sizes and layouts vary, while street and guest noise recur in the wider review history, although some recent visitors describe quiet stays. We’d choose it for a short, location-first city break, but skip it if stairs, summer heat or reliable silence would make or break the trip.

Best for: location-first sightseeing trips; couples traveling light; budget-conscious Old Town stays
Watch out for: stairs with no elevator; fans rather than air-conditioning; variable room size and noise
Location: Central Old Town setting, a short walk from Old Town Square and Můstek metro.
Rooms: Simple en-suite rooms with tea-and-coffee facilities; layouts vary and cooling relies on fans.
Cleanliness: Recent guests generally praise cleanliness, though historical feedback is less consistent.
Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a repeated strength; reception is not staffed around the clock.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, an Italian restaurant and bar; breakfast is available, but check inclusion.
Fees and surprises: City tax applies; breakfast, airport transfers, off-site parking and late check-in can cost extra.
