Axel's take: 9.4/10

An exceptional apartment base below Prague Castle, provided you can manage the stairs. a historic 4-star apartment hotel below Prague Castle, scored for what it is.

MOOo by the Castle is a historic 4-star apartment hotel in Malá Strana, and we'd strongly recommend it for travelers who want space rather than full-service hotel facilities. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the large, well-equipped apartments, excellent cleanliness and genuinely helpful reception team; Booking.com's exceptional overall rating backs that up. Kitchens, separate living areas and a leafy courtyard make it especially appealing for families and longer stays.

The main compromise is access: the surrounding streets are hilly and cobbled, and the hotel confirms steep stairs with no elevator. Some bathrooms have a tub with a handheld shower rather than a conventional standing shower. Reception is not staffed around the clock, so arrange late arrivals ahead. We'd skip it for step-free access or round-the-clock hotel service, but otherwise it's a standout of its kind.

  • Best for: families wanting separate bedrooms; couples who like historic buildings; longer stays with self-catering

  • Watch out for: steep stairs, no elevator and hilly cobbled approaches; bathroom layouts vary by apartment; late arrivals need advance arrangements

  • Location: Below Prague Castle, with Charles Bridge roughly a ten-minute walk away; expect uphill returns.

  • Rooms: Generously sized apartments with kitchens and living areas; confirm shower layout before booking.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews and major booking-site ratings.

  • Service: Warm, responsive staff earn repeated praise; reception has limited staffed hours.

  • Amenities: Equipped kitchens, free Wi-Fi, daily cleaning and a courtyard; breakfast is available on request.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax and paid parking are listed; confirm parking location and availability directly rather than assuming on-site space.
