Axel's take: 8.1/10

A practical Prague base with helpful staff, excellent transport and some tired rooms. a no-frills 3-star near Anděl in Smíchov, scored for what it is.

This no-frills 3-star in Smíchov is a strong pick for travelers who prioritize clean basics and easy transport over character. Despite the name, it is not in historic Malá Strana: you are near Anděl, beside the Nový Smíchov shopping centre, with metro and tram connections close by. Recent Expedia and Accor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and comfortable beds; breakfast also earns plenty of approval.

The compromises are mostly inside the rooms. Expect compact, straightforward accommodation, with some recent guests on Tripadvisor and Accor describing tired interiors. Several Tripadvisor reviewers also report warm rooms or ineffective air conditioning, while Expedia guests note the lack of in-room coffee facilities. We'd choose it for a sightseeing-focused break, but skip it for spacious rooms, historic atmosphere or reliably cool summer sleeping.

• Best for: budget-conscious city breakers; sightseers happy using public transport; travelers who value nearby shops and restaurants

• Watch out for: compact rooms with some dated interiors; reported air-conditioning shortcomings; Smíchov location, not historic Malá Strána

• Location: Near Anděl metro and trams, beside Nový Smíchov; the historic sights require a walk or transit ride.

• Rooms: Simple and compact; beds earn praise, but some guests find the interiors tired and cooling inadequate.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across recent Expedia and Accor reviews, despite occasional lapses.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a consistent positive across review sites.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast, a bar, restaurant and paid private parking.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; breakfast is additional unless included in your booking.
