#9 of 9 hotels in Lesser Town & Castle District by Axel's take. Lesser Town & Castle District is #2 of 9 places to stay in Prague. The best hotels in Lesser Town & Castle District, ranked · Where to stay in Prague

Axel's take: 8.4/10

A comfortable castle-side base, stronger on charm and cleanliness than five-star polish. a traditional five-star boutique hotel below Prague Castle, scored for what it is.

Hotel Hoffmeister is a traditional five-star boutique hotel below Prague Castle, and we'd choose it for sightseeing comfort rather than flawless luxury. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and generous breakfast; recent reviews also frequently credit helpful staff. Charles Bridge and Malostranská metro are within easy walking distance. The hotel's distinctive extra is its private spa, with a Roman-style whirlpool and a steam bath in a historic stone cave.

The reservations are about five-star expectations: some recent guests describe dated interiors or service that feels less polished than the rating suggests. Room choice matters, with occasional complaints about noise near the garden and restaurant. Spa sessions require advance booking and cost extra unless included in your package. It's a strong pick for couples exploring Prague; we'd skip it if contemporary design and consistently seamless luxury service are priorities.

Best for: couples on a sightseeing break; travelers who prefer traditional decor; Prague Castle and Lesser Town explorers
Watch out for: uneven five-star polish; occasional noise near the garden and restaurant; private spa sessions cost extra
Location: Below Prague Castle, walkable to Charles Bridge and close to metro and tram connections.
Rooms: Comfortable beds and often generous space; traditional interiors do not satisfy every luxury traveler.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent guest accounts.
Service: Mostly praised as helpful and welcoming, with a minority reporting indifferent or inflexible responses.
Amenities: Breakfast, restaurant, terrace and private spa with sauna, cave steam bath and whirlpool.
Fees and surprises: Reserve paid spa sessions ahead; garage parking costs extra, requires booking and has a 1.9-metre height limit.
