#3 of 9 hotels in New Town & Wenceslas Square by Axel's take. New Town & Wenceslas Square is #3 of 9 places to stay in Prague. The best hotels in New Town & Wenceslas Square, ranked · Where to stay in Prague

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury city base, with excellent hospitality and a few soundproofing caveats. a renovated historic 5-star near Wenceslas Square, scored for what it is.

Almanac X Alcron Prague is a historic 5-star refreshed in 2023, pairing Art Deco character with contemporary rooms just off Wenceslas Square. It's a strong pick for a comfortable, walkable city break rather than a resort-style stay. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds, cleanliness and generous breakfast. The cocktail bar and coffee shop give you good reasons to spend time downstairs, too.

The caveat is consistency rather than widespread disappointment: some recent guests report sound carrying between rooms, and occasional housekeeping lapses fall short of five-star expectations. Light sleepers should request a quiet room. Don't book for rooftop drinks yet: the dedicated official page now gives January 2027 as the opening date. We'd skip it if extensive wellness facilities or guaranteed silence are priorities.

  • Best for: couples on a luxury city break; sightseers exploring on foot; travelers who appreciate cocktails and design

  • Watch out for: sound can carry between rooms; rooftop not yet open; paid, limited parking

  • Location: Just off Wenceslas Square, with sights, restaurants and metro connections within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Contemporary rooms and comfortable beds earn strong praise; some guests flag weak sound insulation.

  • Cleanliness: Consistently strong across review sites, with occasional housekeeping misses rather than a broad pattern.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength; occasional follow-through lapses remain.

  • Amenities: Restaurant, cocktail bar, coffee shop, 24-hour gym, guest sauna and bookable massages.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the booking; parking costs extra and needs advance reservation; rooftop opening advertised for January 2027.
