#3 of 9 hotels in Aliados & Clérigos by Axel's take. Aliados & Clérigos is #2 of 8 places to stay in Porto. The best hotels in Aliados & Clérigos, ranked · Where to stay in Porto

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong central-Porto hostel with comfortable bunks, helpful staff and worthwhile communal spaces. A cinema-themed budget hostel in central Porto, with dorms and private rooms sharing bathrooms, scored for what it is.

Rivoli is a cinema-themed budget hostel, not a conventional hotel, and we'd put it high on the list for an affordable Porto city break. Its location near Aliados makes sightseeing straightforward, while recent Tripadvisor, Hostelworld and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and comfortable beds. Four-bed dorms have privacy curtains and lockers; private rooms still share bathrooms. The kitchen, lounge and rooftop terrace add useful space beyond your bed, and breakfast is advertised as included on Hostelworld.

The compromises are mostly hostel basics: no elevator, compact shared bathrooms and occasional complaints about bathroom cleanliness. Overall cleanliness ratings remain strong, so those complaints don't define the place. Recent guests also describe a quieter atmosphere than party-hostel seekers might expect. We'd skip it if you need step-free access, an en-suite bathroom or reliably lively evenings.

  • Best for: Solo travelers on a budget; Sightseeing-focused city breaks; Friends comfortable sharing bathrooms

  • Watch out for: Stairs only; no elevator; Shared bathrooms, including private-room bookings; Not reliably a lively social hostel

  • Location: Central Aliados setting, close to metro connections and walkable to major sights.

  • Rooms: Film-themed dorms and private rooms; guests praise curtained bunks, comfortable mattresses and lockers.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings, with some recurring criticism of shared-bathroom upkeep.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistent positives across review sites.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchen, lounge, rooftop terrace and an advertised seasonal pool; Hostelworld lists breakfast included.

  • Fees and surprises: Taxes are listed separately; towel hire may cost extra, and guests advise checking cash-payment requirements.
