Axel's take: 7.8/10

A practical airport stop with clean rooms, but an unappealing surrounding area. a no-frills, motel-style airport hotel, scored for what it is.

This no-frills, motel-style airport hotel is a good pick for a short layover rather than a Phoenix vacation base. Recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; several describe refreshed interiors. The free airport shuttle, continental breakfast and parking make it good value for travelers who mainly need a bed before flying.

The main compromise is the setting: Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests raise concerns about the surrounding area, so we'd plan on driving or ordering food rather than exploring on foot. Rooms open onto exterior corridors, and there's no elevator. Breakfast is basic and starts at 6 a.m.; confirm shuttle departures rather than assuming immediate pickup. We'd skip it for a walkable city break or a stay requiring extensive facilities.

• Best for: overnight airport layovers; budget travelers with a car; early-flight stopovers

• Watch out for: unappealing surroundings for walking; no elevator; exterior room entrances; scheduled shuttle and basic breakfast

• Location: Convenient for Sky Harbor; guests are less enthusiastic about the immediate neighborhood.

• Rooms: Simple, often praised as spacious and refreshed, with microwaves and refrigerators.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia and Booking.com feedback.

• Service: Recent reviews generally praise helpful staff and straightforward airport transfers.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, free Wi-Fi, continental breakfast, laundry and a free scheduled airport shuttle.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a damage deposit, paid extended parking and restrictions on local residents; confirm eligibility.
