Axel's take: 8.7/10
A strong-value Petra base with welcoming staff, rooftop views and a steep walk back. A budget 3-star hotel-and-hostel near Petra’s entrance, scored for what it is.
Nomads is a budget 3-star hotel-and-hostel with private rooms and shared dorms, roughly ten minutes downhill from Petra’s visitor center. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want clean, comfortable basics rather than resort facilities. Booking.com and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, while the rooftop bar and mountain views give it more character than a straightforward overnight stop. Recent guests also speak highly of the Jordanian food and breakfast.
The main catch is the steep climb home after a full day exploring Petra; a car or taxi makes that easier. Room polish is less consistent than the hospitality, with some older bathrooms. Several February 2026 guests reported a nonworking elevator, so confirm access if stairs are a concern. We’d skip it for step-free convenience or upscale comfort, but it delivers very good value for an active Petra visit.
