Axel's take: 7.3/10

A good-value pool escape, but expect simpler rooms than the resort styling suggests. A retro, motel-style mid-range hotel with two pools in south Palm Springs, scored for what it is.

V Palm Springs, now V Capri Palm Springs, a Dolce by Wyndham, is a retro, motel-style mid-range hotel rather than a luxury resort. We'd consider it for a casual pool getaway: there are separate adults-only and all-ages pools, mountain views, and free parking. Recent Travelocity guests frequently praise friendly staff and clean rooms; the overall guest ratings suggest a generally good, not outstanding, stay. Downtown is a short drive rather than right outside.

The trade-off is uneven upkeep. Tripadvisor guests describe basic rooms and inconsistent pool-bar availability, while summer 2026 ResortPass visitors flag worn loungers and cushions. A resort fee also applies. A phased makeover announced in July 2026 includes refreshed rooms, Umami Pool and a restaurant change; completion and disruption dates remain unclear. Confirm facilities before booking. We'd skip it for polished luxury or dependable full-service resort treatment.

  • Best for: Value-minded couples with a car; Friends planning a casual pool getaway; Travelers comfortable with motel-style rooms

  • Watch out for: Basic rooms and uneven upkeep; Inconsistent pool-bar availability; Resort fee and renovation uncertainty

  • Location: South Palm Springs, a short drive from downtown rather than a central walk-everywhere base.

  • Rooms: Exterior-corridor rooms with retro styling; guest feedback suggests basic comfort rather than upscale finishes.

  • Cleanliness: Generally positive recent room feedback, with some complaints about pool-area cleanliness and furniture.

  • Service: Many recent guests praise the staff, though less helpful encounters also recur in reviews.

  • Amenities: Two pools, hot tub, gym and GiGi's restaurant; no full-service spa, and pool-bar availability varies.

  • Fees and surprises: Resort fee applies; self-parking is free. Announced phased renovations have no confirmed completion or disruption schedule.
