Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong self-catering pick with generous rooms, helpful staff and some noise-sensitive room choices. a colorful, mid-range apartment-style hotel in the Uptown Design District, scored for what it is.

The Twist is a mid-range apartment-style hotel, and we'd pick it for space and independence rather than full-service polish. Studios and suites have kitchens and private patios or balconies, with colorful mid-century styling. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the helpful staff, roomy accommodation and walkable Uptown location. The pool and hot tub make staying in appealing, too; it's particularly well suited to longer stays.

The trade-off is uneven polish. Several Tripadvisor guests describe worn furnishings or cleaning details that need attention, although the broader cleanliness picture remains positive. Noise deserves more care: guests report music in rooms above the bar, and Booking.com feedback also flags upstairs footsteps. Light sleepers should confirm room placement before booking. We'd skip it if you want reliably hushed rooms or seamless, full-service hotel treatment.

• Best for: couples who like to self-cater; longer stays with extra living space; mid-century design fans

• Watch out for: bar noise in some front upstairs rooms; uneven furnishings and maintenance; strict direct-booking cancellation terms

• Location: Uptown Design District, just north of downtown, with restaurants and coffee nearby.

• Rooms: Spacious studios and suites with kitchens and outdoor space; some furnishings show wear.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest scores, tempered by scattered reports of sticky surfaces and tired carpets.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise; keycoded access suits independent travelers.

• Amenities: Outdoor pool, hot tub, barbecue area and free parking; think self-catering rather than full-service resort.

• Fees and surprises: Check the booking total for resort fees; direct policies require full prepayment and charge even for early cancellations.
