#3 of 9 hotels in South Palm Canyon by Axel's take. South Palm Canyon is #4 of 5 places to stay in Palm Springs. The best hotels in South Palm Canyon, ranked · Where to stay in Palm Springs

Axel's take: 9.2/10

An excellent small-hotel pick for personal service and quiet pool days, not contemporary luxury. A small, adults-only 3-star courtyard hotel in south Palm Springs, scored for what it is.

Hotel California is a 14-room, adults-only 3-star with Spanish Mission styling and an unusually strong reputation for personal service. It's an excellent pick for a relaxed Palm Springs break: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spotless rooms, welcoming staff and the intimate courtyard. The heated outdoor pool, hot tub, shared kitchen and complimentary bicycles give this small property plenty of practical appeal. Free parking and no resort fee strengthen the value.

The trade-off is older-fashioned comfort rather than a freshly designed boutique stay. Some guests describe dated rooms and bathrooms, and the included continental breakfast is simple rather than substantial. You're south of the downtown core, though several restaurants are walkable. We'd skip it for families, nightlife on the doorstep or full-service resort facilities; couples seeking quiet and attentive care are its natural audience.

  • Best for: Couples seeking a quiet getaway; Travelers who value personal service; Relaxed poolside breaks

  • Watch out for: Older room and bathroom finishes; Simple continental breakfast; Outside the downtown core

  • Location: South Palm Springs, with walkable dining nearby but a longer trip to the downtown core.

  • Rooms: Comfortable, individually varied accommodations; some have kitchens, but finishes can feel dated.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms and well-kept grounds.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff are the most consistently praised feature across guest-review sites.

  • Amenities: Heated outdoor pool, hot tub, shared kitchen, grills, bicycles and a simple included breakfast.

  • Fees and surprises: The hotel states free parking and no resort fee; arrange late arrivals ahead because check-in hours are limited.
