Axel's take: 8.2/10

Come for the architecture and walkable location, but expect some rough edges. an adults-only, mid-century boutique motel near downtown Palm Springs, scored for what it is.

Del Marcos is an adults-only boutique motel whose appeal is classic Palm Springs rather than full-service luxury. William F. Cody’s architecture, a courtyard saltwater pool and an easy walk to downtown restaurants make it a strong pick for a relaxed, car-light break. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise the location and pool; complimentary bicycles and self-parking add practical value.

The reservations are about consistency. Recent Expedia guests remain largely enthusiastic, but Tripadvisor reviews repeatedly describe worn rooms, small bathrooms and an unstaffed lobby requiring a trip next door to La Serena Villas for assistance. Cleanliness ratings are positive overall, though individual recent reports flag lapses. We’d choose it for design and pool time, not polished service; skip it if dependable on-site staffing or uniformly updated rooms matter most.

• Best for: mid-century architecture fans; couples seeking a low-key pool break; travelers exploring downtown on foot

• Watch out for: check-in or assistance may be next door; room condition and bathroom size vary; confirm resort fees before booking

• Location: Excellent downtown access, with restaurants, shops and galleries within an easy walk.

• Rooms: Individually decorated retro rooms; some offer kitchens or patios, but wear and compact bathrooms recur in reviews.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by several recent reports of housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, but repeated reports describe a closed lobby and uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Heated saltwater pool, complimentary bicycles and self-parking; no elevator.

• Fees and surprises: Guests report resort fees, so confirm inclusions; dogs incur extra charges and are restricted to selected rooms.
