#7 of 9 hotels in Kissimmee Maingate West by Axel's take. Kissimmee Maingate West is #7 of 12 places to stay in Orlando. The best hotels in Kissimmee Maingate West, ranked · Where to stay in Orlando

Axel's take: 7.6/10

Good family space and plentiful pools, but room consistency and sales pitches disappoint. A sprawling mid-range timeshare resort near Disney, with apartment-style villas, scored for what it is.

Westgate Vacation Villas is a sprawling mid-range timeshare resort in Kissimmee, not a polished four-star hotel. It’s a good pick for families who prioritize space, cooking facilities and pool days over seamless service. One- and two-bedroom villas have full kitchens, and the shared resort grounds offer 14 pools, mini-golf, a cinema and plenty to keep children occupied. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms and helpful staff; Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed.

The trade-off is consistency: guests describe both updated villas and tired units with maintenance problems, while slow problem-solving and timeshare solicitations recur. Check your exact room category rather than assuming every “villa” is a full apartment. There’s a nightly resort fee, housekeeping is weekly, and Shipwreck Island Water Park generally costs extra unless included in your booking. We’d skip it for a quiet couples’ break or dependable upscale service.

  • Best for: Families wanting kitchen-equipped villas; Disney visitors with a car; Pool-and-activity-focused stays

  • Watch out for: Variable room condition and maintenance; Timeshare pitches and possible check-in queues; Resort fee and usually extra water-park admission

  • Location: Kissimmee base convenient for Disney by car; allow for busy local roads.

  • Rooms: Larger villas offer kitchens and separate living space; studios are closer to ordinary hotel rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Recent Expedia feedback is strongly positive, though Tripadvisor reports some lapses.

  • Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, but check-in delays and slow issue resolution recur.

  • Amenities: Extensive shared pools, sports, mini-golf, cinema and dining; Shipwreck Island admission is usually separate.

  • Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee, arrival deposit, weekly housekeeping and 10 a.m. checkout; self-parking is free.
