#7 of 9 hotels in Old Town & Highway 192 by Axel's take. Old Town & Highway 192 is #8 of 12 places to stay in Orlando. The best hotels in Old Town & Highway 192, ranked · Where to stay in Orlando

Axel's take: 7.7/10

Good family space and plenty to do, but room condition is uneven. A family-focused 3-star condo and timeshare resort in Kissimmee, scored for what it is.

Star Island is a 3-star condo and timeshare resort in Kissimmee, best approached as a self-catering family base rather than a full-service hotel. We'd pick it for kitchen-equipped accommodation, well-kept grounds and activities between park days. Booking.com and Expedia both show strong overall guest ratings, while recent Agoda guests praise clean rooms, useful kitchens and generous space. Pools, tennis, mini golf and a spa give families reasons to stay on-site.

The catch is consistency. Recent Tripadvisor guests describe dated bathrooms, occasional musty smells or cleaning misses, and uneven front-desk service, alongside very positive stays. Some adjoining suites transmit conversations, and kitchen facilities vary by unit. Factor in a nightly resort fee and a security deposit; a car is the practical choice. We'd skip it if modern interiors, dependable daily housekeeping or hotel-style service matter more than space.

Best for: Families combining theme parks with pool days; Self-catering groups; Longer stays with a car
Watch out for: Uneven room condition and soundproofing; Resort fee and security deposit; Unit layouts and kitchen facilities vary
Location: Convenient Kissimmee base for Disney-area outings, but a car is recommended.
Rooms: Choose the layout carefully: the advertised three-bedroom villa includes a sofa-bed room, not three conventional bedrooms.
Cleanliness: Strong aggregate cleanliness ratings, tempered by recurring Tripadvisor reports of dirty floors or musty rooms.
Service: Many guests praise helpful staff; front-desk attitude and problem handling receive mixed feedback.
Amenities: Two outdoor pools, a children's pool, tennis, mini golf, gym, spa and a marketplace/deli.
Fees and surprises: Nightly resort fee and security deposit; parking is free, and guests report limited included housekeeping.
