Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong family base with apartment space, plentiful pools and parking charges to factor in. a sprawling 4-star timeshare villa resort near Disney, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Vistana is a sprawling 4-star timeshare villa resort, not a conventional full-service hotel, and it's a strong pick for families wanting room to spread out near Disney. One- and two-bedroom villas provide kitchens or kitchenettes, separate living areas and laundry. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, spacious accommodation and welcoming staff. Seven outdoor pools make non-park days worthwhile, too.

The trade-offs are practical: parking carries a daily charge despite the absence of resort fees, housekeeping is every other day, and checkout is at 10 a.m. The extensive grounds make your building assignment worth checking against the facilities you'll use most. We'd choose it for a longer, self-catering family stay; we'd skip it for a compact, walk-everywhere escape or luxury-hotel levels of daily service.

• Best for: families visiting Disney; longer self-catering stays; groups wanting separate bedrooms

• Watch out for: daily parking charges; sprawling resort layout; every-other-day housekeeping and 10 a.m. checkout

• Location: Convenient for Disney-area outings; plan on driving or arranging transport rather than walking to parks.

• Rooms: Spacious apartment-style villas with separate living areas, kitchens or kitchenettes, and washers and dryers.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guest accounts.

• Service: Recent guests frequently praise welcoming, helpful staff; housekeeping is scheduled every other day.

• Amenities: Seven outdoor pools, whirlpools, fitness centers, tennis, mini-golf and casual dining support days at the resort.

• Fees and surprises: No resort fee, but daily parking charges apply; checkout is at 10 a.m.
