Axel's take: 7.9/10

Good value for Universal trips, provided you can forgive dated rooms and uneven housekeeping. A budget 3-star hotel on International Drive near Universal, scored for what it is.

Rosen Inn is a budget 3-star on International Drive, best used as a practical base for park-heavy trips. We'd pick it for value rather than polish: recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests frequently praise comfortable beds, helpful staff and the convenient location. In-room microwaves and mini-fridges, a seasonally heated pool and free scheduled Universal shuttles make the basics useful rather than fancy.

The trade-off is an aging property. Dated decor is a repeated theme, and some recent guests across both sites report housekeeping lapses or pests, although overall cleanliness ratings remain positive. Parking costs extra despite older descriptions advertising it as free, and shuttle seats require reservations rather than offering continuous departures. It's a strong option for budget-conscious park visitors; we'd skip it if spotless consistency, modern interiors or flexible park transportation are priorities.

• Best for: Budget-conscious Universal visitors; Families spending most days at the parks; Travelers wanting nearby restaurants

• Watch out for: Dated interiors and uneven housekeeping; Some recent pest reports; Paid parking and reservation-only shuttles

• Location: Convenient International Drive base near Universal, with restaurants and bus stops nearby.

• Rooms: Basic, dated rooms with generally well-reviewed beds, microwaves and mini-fridges.

• Cleanliness: Positive overall ratings, but recent housekeeping and pest complaints warrant attention.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are widely praised; some guests report slow reception or poor problem handling.

• Amenities: Seasonally heated outdoor pool, gym, arcade, dining and free scheduled Universal shuttles.

• Fees and surprises: No resort fee; parking, breakfast, dogs and rollaway beds cost extra; shuttle reservations are required.
