Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong family base for space and pool time, not polished four-star service. A mid-range, self-catering condo resort near Disney, scored for what it is.

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa is a self-catering condo resort rather than a traditional four-star hotel. We'd pick it for family trips where separate bedrooms, full kitchens and in-suite laundry matter more than polished interiors. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous space, helpful staff and pirate-ship pool, making this a practical base for park days and downtime.

The catch is uneven room condition: recent guests still mention dated furniture and tired mattresses, while the hotel's newly renovated Signature Collection offers a fresher alternative. Daily housekeeping isn't included, extra cleaning costs more, and a daily resort fee applies. We'd favor having a car over depending on the limited shuttle timetable. Skip it if you want consistently contemporary rooms or full-service hotel pampering.

• Best for: Families needing separate bedrooms; Longer self-catering stays; Theme-park travelers with a car

• Watch out for: Older suites vary in condition; No included daily housekeeping; resort fee applies; Limited shuttle flexibility

• Location: Beside outlet shopping and convenient for Disney by car; less suited to a walking-based trip.

• Rooms: Spacious condo layouts with kitchens and laundry; renovated Signature suites differ from older accommodation.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive recent feedback, with some complaints about dust and worn upholstery rather than uniformly poor cleaning.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise, though this is a self-catering operation.

• Amenities: Pirate-ship pool, a second pool, spa and on-site dining give families useful downtime options.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee includes parking and Wi-Fi; housekeeping costs extra, and complimentary park shuttles require advance reservations.
